Our land

Luna Berry Farms has been a commercial supplier of blueberries for over a decade. We produced over a half million pounds of blueberries annually and provided a season al U-Pick operation to the community. The quality of our fruit improved substantially over the years.

Our cattle- southern sisters cattle company

Our sister company, Southern Sisters Cattle Company has been breeding black angus cattle since 2006. The herd was moved to Luna Berry Farms in 2009. Our breeding stock originated from the Ohlde Farms in Palmer Kansas and a grandson to the legendary OCC Emblazon 854E we called Bodacious! We have been breeding Bodacious lineage for years, improving the genetics and the quality of our brand. Luna Berry Farms will be retailing our farm fresh steaks.

our poultry

Along with beef, Luna Berry Farms has also raised quality poultry from heritage breed turkeys to a rainbow of egg laying poultry. LBF has been breeding poultry since 2014 with our primary focus the Black Copper Marans. These gorgeous hens lay deep dark chocolate colored eggs. Another favorite of the farm is the Golden Cuckoo Maran and the Blue Laced Red Wyandotte.

A heritage turkey is one of a variety of strains of domestic turkey which retains historic characteristics that are no longer present in the majority of turkeys raised for consumption since the mid-20th century. Heritage turkeys make wonderful pets and are very friendly even with strangers. Heritage turkeys have a relatively long lifespan and a much slower growth rate than turkeys bred for, industrial agriculture and unlike industrially bred turkeys, can without artificial insemination. For most of history, turkeys were primarily raised on small for meat family farms and as a form of pest control(turkeys are prodigious eaters of insects). But with the advent of factory farming of poultry, turkeys began to be selectively bred for increasingly larger size, focusing especially on the production of breast meat. Beginning in the 1920s and continuing into the 1950s, broad-breasted fowl began to replace all other types of turkey in commercial production. The favorite breed at the time was the Broad Breasted Bronze, which was developed from the Standard Bronze. In the 1960s producers began to heavily favor turkeys that did not show the dark pin feathers in their carcass, and thus the Broad Breasted White grew to dominate the industry, a trend which continues to this day. Luna Berry Farms raised heritage breed turkeys because we believe they taste better and their meat is tastier and more flavorful than industrial grown varieties.
